You Know You Have an Autoimmune Issue When…

img_1656There are many things I never really thought of as autoimmune symptoms until after I joined a support group of other people who deal with it as well. I was both shocked and happy to hear that I was not alone.

Here is something I deal with but had no clue it was something that was a symptom. I have multiple things going on. One of them a clotting factor and I have had DVT’s before. I have ended up in the ER many times because one calf or another would be on fire. It wouldn’t be both at the same time, just one. They would do a whole work up of tests and blood work to rule out a DVT. Always comes back fine and then I am sent on my way. I know the likelihood of having a DVT is low, especially being on a blood thinner, at the same time you don’t easily forget that burning sensation of fire when you have a DVT in your calf. Turns out that a lot of people have this symptom in their arms and legs. Turns out with all of the doctors and specialists I have seen not one has mentioned that this is probably a symptom of what I have going on. However now I will be playing the game of is this a DVT or is this a autoimmune symptom before trying to decide what to do.

As I mentioned above I have joined a support group (this one is on Facebook). Last night one of the members started, “You know you have fibro when…”. It was meant to be lighthearted and it was meant so you don’t feel like you are alone with all of your symptoms. It was exactly what I needed last night. I sat there reading, laughing and agreeing with 90% of what others were writing about.

So I am here today, for those of you who are not in a support group, to tell you that you are not alone. Maybe you haven’t been diagnosed with an autoimmune issue at this point but are struggling with pain and discomfort. You are not alone. It takes a long time to come to a diagnosis and even when you get one, it may not be what you want to hear.

Here is a video about, “You Might Have An Autoimmune Issue When”

Reading the posts last night reminded me that a lot of my symptoms, I didn’t know were symptoms. You are not alone. You do not have to struggle alone. You do not have to struggle as much as you are.

Last March, our family started taking some capsules. We started to have improvements with a lot of things. I started to have amazing improvements. I could get my weddings rings over my knuckle! I do weigh more right now than I did when we got married but I had to make the ring big enough to get over my knuckle. So when we got married my rings were too big for my finger and twirled around.

The redness in my face from rosacea started to go away. I could touch my face without crying. You see even when my face wasn’t completely red or inflamed I still had a lot of pain in my face. I struggled to kiss my husband’s face if he had any stubble on his face. So he would shave in the morning, kiss me goodbye, get home and I would  have to hold his face so I could control the kiss. That started to change though, I was able to tolerate more stubble on his face and kiss him without wanting to lash out irrationally, scream and cry.

Yes I still do have bad days. Yes I still get pain in my hips, shoulders, calves, feet, head, neck, and the list goes on but instead of being at a 10+ pain level 365/24/7 I am at a 4+ pain level 365/24/7. The best thing for me is the longer I am on the fruit, veggie and berry capsules the more improvements I see!

I didn’t know in March what to expect when I started the capsules. I was hoping for more energy. I was hoping for less img_1652pain. I was hoping for a better quality of life. I wanted to be able to sit on the floor and play with the kiddos without feeling 100 years old. I wanted to be able to go up and down our stairs to help with laundry without feeling like I just climbed a mountain. I wanted to be able to wash dishes without dropping plates, cups, bowls and having the choice of either going to paper/plastic or buying new dishes once a year. I wanted to be able to color with my children. I wanted to be able to go out in the winter and watch my son ski for his senior year on the ski team. I wanted to be able to enjoy my life, with my family and friends.

What happened was we started in March and I was hoping for mild improvements. What happened was amazing. I was having better days. I was using less Young Living for my discomfort. I had more energy. I was able to mow the lawn and not need a month to recover. I was going up and down the stairs and not feeling like it was a mountain, maybe a hill but not a mountain.

The longer I am taking the capsules, the more I am noticing. The better I am feeling. I am not 100% but I am closer to 100% than I have been in a really long time. I still use my Young Living. I still have a couple medications I take. I still have days that I need a lot of recovery and rest but I am living again. I am actually living my life.

Yes I still have a lot of the things that were talked about on the video about You know you have an autoimmune issue when…. They are just not as extreme anymore. To me that is priceless. To me that is something I have been searching for and it has been a long search (sad thing is it has been in front of me for 8 years and I have stubbed my nose at it). Thankfully my eyes opened and I took advantage of what was in front of me.

Do you want to be able to live your life? Do you want to be able to feel somewhat normal? Are you ready to take a chance and see what fruits, veggies and berries could do for you and your autoimmune issues? If so please reach out to me. Even if you are not ready but need to know you are not alone, I am here for you as well!
